A Strategic Map for the Future State Journey

With over 6,000 members, The Institute for Humane Studies needed a strategic plan to support their current and future growth.

Defining Opportunities Through Journey Mapping

The Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) is a non-profit organization working with students and faculty across the country to promote free speech, open inquiry and intellectual diversity. One of their key initiatives is to place aspiring faculty into funded academic roles and disciplines at top universities. However, their academic pipeline was not growing fast enough to achieve the type of impact they desired. Veracity was brought in to help identify gaps in their current audience experience as well as new opportunities to drive engagement. We conducted a series of journey mapping workshops and stakeholder interviews to better understand their challenges and future goals. We then created current and future state maps based on those insights. Through an iterative learning process, we proposed new ways to engage and provided detailed recommendations to help IHS accomplish their business goals.
